Just a daily photo from me to you! With emphasis on taking the photo on the day it is posted! However, sometimes this is not going to be possible so I'll be posting photos taken at other times. Just a thought .... just an idea. Let's see if I can keep this up for a complete year! "St. John Milling Co."
St. John Milling Company, Tennessee's longest running business opened in 1778 and ran continuously for 233 years. The company was always owned and managed by a direct descendent of the original owner, Jeremiah Dungan. At it's closing on April 30, 2011, the mill had been run for the last 40 years by Ron Dawson. Built on Brush Creek and powered by a 16 foot water wheel the mill was converted to electricity in the 1930's. Located in Watauga, Tn. between Johnson City and Elizabethton a string of tornadoes ripped through East Tennessee on April 27, 2011 and damaged this mill. Not sure if this had anything to do with the closing but probably so. However, this is a recent picture taken in October, 2013.
